Guest Blogger Cookie M. Report takes us on a magical tour of Keukenhof

Me love Keukenhof – the Dutch Tulip Gardens

Hello everybody. Cookie Monster here! You may know me as that cookie loving, fuzzy and blue monster from Instagram (me is called @cookiemreport there). But me also love tulips, hyacinths, daffodils and loads of other spring flowers! Here in the Netherlands there is an awesome place where humans, dogs and plushies from all over the world can enjoy the beauty of the spring. It only opens its gates for 8 weeks per year! In that period the gardens constantly change colours and flowers… Loads of people come to walk through the gardens, take pictures of the flowers, their dogs, themselves or other people and plushies ofcourse. Me is talking about Keukenhof – The Dutch Tulip Gardens.

What can you see?

Keukenhof is an estate in Lisse, South-Holland. There is a castle, but that is only open for special occasions, like a wedding, and exhibits. The estate is very large and there are many pavilions with each a different store, flower exhibit and restaurant. You really can walk for hours and hours. Everywhere you look there are spring flowers. Purple and white crocuses, soapy smelling hyacinths, gorgeous yellow and orange daffodils in all shapes and sizes… But the pride of the park and the Ditch spring are the tulips. Loads and loads of beautiful tulips. Me honestly can say you never have seen this many colours, shapes, sizes and varieties of tulips in your imagination!

It’s Magical

Me think Keukenhof is a magical place where you can enjoy the flowers from early morning till the evening falls. There is a lot to see inside and ofcourse outside. If you get hungry and thirsty of the walk through the gardens, go and sit down at one of the little and bigger restaurants. Have some coffee or tea with Dutch style Applepie or a Dutch cookie. Or try some of the other tasty food that is served at the pavilions.

Do you like the tulips so much you want to bring them home? Well you can. But no! No picking the flowers. There are lots of bulbs for sale in the park. Also there are some nice novelty shops with all kinds of Dutch souvenirs, like mugs with tulips on it, Delfts Blauw porcelain, little windmills, nijntje (miffy) plushies… Our little miffy even has her very own little house/shop and garden! It so much fun to take pictures there.

If you got the time (and money) it the best to visit Keukenhof a few times in the season. That way you can see all the changes the park goes through and that is soooo beautiful. Me really loves that. And me was lucky enough to visit Keukenhof 5 times this year! 2 times for an instameet. Keukenhof is really beautiful for instameets. Our humans can talk and look at the flowers and if we are careful not to damage them, we can play in the flowers. The colourful scenery is the best backdrop for fuzzy and sweet plushies.

Me can talk for hours and hours about Keukenhof. Me hope you all will get to experience one dag. It real close to Schiphol Airport (Amsterdam Airport). There are special busses bringing you from and to the airport, Haarlem Central Station and Leiden Central Station. You can not miss them. They are covered in tulip stickers! Cool huh.

If you want to know when Keukenhof opens again next year, just check www.keukenhof.nl.

Also you can check out me blog http://cookiereport.blogspot.com for more blogs and pictures about Keukenhof. Also on me blog me talk about me instameets, zoo visits and more.
